Wine Recommendations, Great Values For Your Money

So you are looking for wine recommendations that won't break the bank. We are all looking to buy wine that is reasonably priced, yet show depth and are well crafted.

It is easy to find excellent wines if you are willing to pay $700.00, $300.00 USD, or even a "reasonable" $100.00 USD, but that is not very realistic for most of us, at least not on a daily basis. Maybe some day we will splurge and get one of those very fine bottles of wine. In the mean time lets enjoy and learn without having to get a second mortgage.

A Value Wine Guide

The emphasis is on value. Here you will find the best wines in the $20.00 USD and under range.

Beginning with types of white wine:

Angeline Chardonnay Russian River Valley 2006. Winemaker notes tell us that it has flavors of peach and apple with hints of creamy oak. Score of 86, $14.00 USD. California.

Peter Zemmer Pinot Grigio, D.O.C., Italy; VC: Alto Adige with notes of melon. Score of 87, $18.00 USD. Italy

Bodegas Leza Garcia Rioja White Barrel Fermented 2006 a golden white with notes of apple and hazelnuts. Score of 87, $13.00 USD. Spain.

Recanati Chardonnay Galilee 2006 with notes of ripe pears and butterscotch. Score of 86, $16.00 USD. Israel

Peter Nicolay Riesling Kabinett Mosel Urziger Würzgarten 2007 Score of 88, $15.00 USD. Germany.

Bodegas Terrazas de los Andes Chardonnay Mendoza Reserva 2007 with notes of apples and pears. Score of 86, $17.00 USD. Argentina

Great Value For Types of Red Wine

Gerard Bertrand Grenache-Syrah Mourvedre Corbieres 2006 with notes of licorice and boysenberry. Score of 89, $18.00 USD. France.

Fetzer Merlot California Valley Oaks 2006 with notes of raspberry and herb. Score of 83, $9.00 USD. California

Castello di Vicchiomaggio Toscana Ripa della Mandorle 2005 with notes of plum and cherry. Score of 88, $17.00 USD. Italy

Monte Antico Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana 2005 a blend with notes of plum and berries. Score of 85, $13.00 USD. Italy

De Martino Syrah Choapa Valley Legado Reserva 2006 notes of blackcherry and cocoa. Score of 90, $16.00 USD. Chile

I hope you enjoy these wines. See if you can detect the flavors described on the winemakers' and wine tasters' notes. Perhaps you will find some other flavors and aromas.
