2002 Chapel Hill Shiraz, McLaren Vale

Chapel Hill Shiraz, 2002, McLaren Vale

Chapel Hill Shiraz, 2002, McLaren Vale

We celebrated our son's high school graduation in June, 2006. Because he was accepted into The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, we invited family and friends into our home to celebrate. I prepared plenty of appetizers while my husband was in charge of 'liquid' refreshments. Unaware to me, but much to my delight, my husband had ordered "2002 Chapel Hill Shiraz" for this gathering! The wine was a deep red and had a great balance of fruit and oak which made for satisfying sips through out the evening! But just as important were the tidbits of conversation surrounding the fact that we were serving 'Chapel Hill' wine!! I give all credit to my husband for planning ahead, making this event more memorable to all. If you have a 'student' who will attend UNC-Chapel Hill, or if you have a student who will graduate from UNC-Chapel, you might want to consider serving this nice, yet affordable wine! It's sure to be a 'hit' at your celebration! :)

Thanks for the tip, Maria! What a wonderful idea, and one I'll definitely take to heart, as my son will graduate from Chapel Hill in May, 2010!

Great Story

Thank you for this wonderful story. Perhaps you should buy a bottle from the year he started at the university, and present it to him for his college graduation!
